What do you get when you add significant amount of
education, years of large firm experience, a healthy dose of humor, and a
hometown girl? You get The Roberts Tax Group!
Kristin Roberts started The Roberts Tax Group in May 1998.
First located in Sharon, then Litchfield, she always kept her roots in her
native NW comer of the state. Through
all the changes, two things have stayed the same, her passion for her desire to
help her clients grow and thrive.
The Roberts Tax Group takes a unique and holistic approach
when working with their clients. Whether it is a start-up or established
business, RTG looks at the business as a whole. Areas such as financing taxes,
accounting, marketing, insurance, legal and strategy are reviewed to make sure
the business is as robust and profitable as possible. When working with the
individuals, the same process is applied. It's not just about filing a tax
return. It is about reviewing over-all financial health and stability. The goal
is to ensure that all options have been exhausted in order to keep as much
money as possible in the client's pockets.
Recently, The Roberts Tax Group found a new home in the
historic district of downtown Torrington. Wanting to be a part of the
revitalization of the city, RTG now calls 79 Main Street their home. With
several offices and room to grow, they have furnished their offices in what
Kris calls "professionally funky"; an attitude that permeates the entire firm.
Besides a new office location, The Roberts Tax Group is
pleased to announce an addition to their professional staff. Brett Wald, a
native of Litchfield, is joining the firm in September upon his return from
South Korea. Brett's combination of education, teaching and entrepreneurial experience
will be a great addition to the firm. With a B.S. in Accounting from The University
of Hartford, Brett joined his fiancé, Se-eun in her hometown of Seoul in order
to start up, operate, and ultimately sell their business. He is now bringing
that expertise back home.
Kris is also experiencing come changes of his own. She is
currently working on her Doctor of Business Administration degree with a concentration
in Entrepreneurial studies. She has recently been appointed to the Board of
Directors for the NW Chamber of Commerce Educational Foundation. She has also
been appointed to the CT Dept. of Revenue's External Editorial Review Board which
provides feedback to the Commissioner so that tax forms and instructions can be
written in language that taxpayers can actually understand. She also serves on
the Board of Directors for the CT Chapter of the National Association of Tax
Professionals. Since 2010, Kris has been an adjunct Professor of Accounting and
Taxation at Post University in Waterbury. There she teaches online and in the
lecture hall. At Post, she is famed for being able to make three hour long
Saturday morning lectures on taxation, fun! Kris also develops curriculum for
various taxation courses taught at Post. Kris has also spent the last two years
volunteering her time each month to the SCORE chapter located in New Haven.
A significant core value of The Roberts Tax Group is to give
back to the community by education. To help maintain that value, RTG is honored
to be one of this year's presenting sponsors for the Young Entrepreneurs
Academy being presented by the NW CT Chamber of Commerce. Beside the
sponsorship, Kris has volunteered to teach one of the 10 week sessions presents
by the Academy. As Kris proudly states, "Whether it is teaching students at
Post, educating clients in our office, or guiding displaced workers through
SCORE, education is in the heart of everything we do."
So with a fresh and funky perspective on business, a human
approach to the individual, RTG looks forward to having a continued long-term
impact in the community and on your life.
